Videos and
Photos From The
World Internet Summit, Melbourne
Australia Event
Dear loyal subscriber/customer,
Well, what a fun five day
trip it was. Meeting some of my
subscribers at the World Internet Summit,
the speakers, making videos, walking around
Melbourne Australia, it was all worth while.
My Takeaways and WIS
Trip In A Nutshell
I went with a friend of mine (also an Internet
marketer), Frank Bauer. We pretty much shared everything.
The seminar ticket (bring a friend for free), the accommodation but
not the bed! :-). All-in-all, it was a great experience.
Mike Filsaime - "The Hedgehog" Concept. Mike
talked about a book by Jim Collins called "Good To Great" (I highly
recommend you get this at your local bookstore), which basically
talks about how "good" is the enemy of "great". Doesn't make
sense now, I know, but you'll understand once you've read it.
Mike also did a "WIS Challenge" where he created a website and let
the audience in the room promote that site, which was
The Resource Report. He generated just under $10,000 and
gained approx. 7,000 members in 24 hours. They did a
prize-draw and a lucky lady from the audience won it. It just shows how anyone
can do this without initially having a list. He showed the
power of viral marketing where one person tells their contacts, and
those contacts tell their contacts, etc.
Meeting people who are at different levels and are
in different ventures of Internet marketing. It was great to get different perspectives
of where people are and what they're struggling with. It helps
with creating my products because now, I think twice about what
information I should share.
Meeting people who have the same interest and
desire. It was my cup-of-tea. At home and when I'm with
my friends, I don't talk about my business. So this was a
great opportunity to get to know all these like-minded people.
Meeting the speakers. They've been there and
done that. Try to email these speakers and see what they
reply. It's different when you meet them in person.
They're more open and willing to help you get pass your challenges.
I had a photographic list of my most pressing questions in my head
and I asked them the questions. The WIS had the best line of
speakers I ever saw. Well, that was for me personally.
Meeting the legendary Mark Joyner from
Simpleology.com. I was surprised he even knew me. He
told me he saw a report or product from someone's site...must've
been from one of my viral reports :)
Meeting Ewen Chia for the first time was a great
experience. He's really down to earth and humorous. No
wonder he was voted #1 best speaker for the WIS 2007.
Our coffee break with Mike Filsaime, Tom Beal and
Mark Joyner. There was about five others just socialising with
these folks. We didn't just talk about Internet marketing, we
talked about what they did before they went online. It was
real interesting. Tom Beal and Mark Joyner were in the army.
I guess that's where they got their discipline. Mike talked
about life when he was in the car business.
Frank Bauer and I are creating a video product which
will be released in the future. We created four videos which
is the main product. We did this during and after the seminar.
That there is a product. All we needed was a digital camera
with built-in video and some valuable information to share.
See how easy it is to create a product?
I had fun and I made sales even though I was out
from my home office because I've got a "system" in place to handle
most of the tedious jobs for me. I was very limited with
Internet connectivity because their "high-speed" wireless broadband
was "low-speed" :\ . Anyway, it just shows that while I was
out for the weekend, my business can still run without me.
Mike Filsaime also talked about "multi-tasking" and
how it can slow down your success. He stresses out not to be a
perfectionist. Are you a perfectionist? Well, if you
want to get your products out you need to focus on one project at a
time. Get that going first, tweak it, diverse, it makes you
money, then move on to your next project. That way you build
momentum. One project could take 30 days to complete and if
you were doing another project at the same time, you'll get half as
much done and as a result you'll lack the motivation because you're
seeing no results yet.
Learning to absorb and apply the education you've gained from the seminar is crucial. Most
people write down a full book of notes and once they get home, it
collects dust. You need to take action immediately because you're
already in that state where your mind's full of ideas to utilize.
The notes that you've written down on your notepad will be worthless
otherwise. Knowledge is power. But it is only potential
power.
So here's my trip in multimedia format :)....

What an awesome presentation he
put...his "sales pitch" was crazy.
Everyone ran to the table and
ordered his package.

What a legend.

We all need to learn
to relax and enjoy. Frank and
I booked another day, which was
Monday, to walk around the Melbourne
city. It was a fun day.
Coincidentally, there was a special
occassion happening that day in
Melbourne so it was awesome...
Once a year,
Melbourne has a special occassion
called the "Moomba Festival".
It is a celebration of multiculture
in their community.
Another video from Moomba
The Chinese lions
and dragon...Take a look at the
crowd. There's literally tens
of thousands on the side path.
Looking around
Melbourne's stunning architectures.
Right is the train station and left
the the Federation Square (I think)
:-)
A lot of people?
They had some sort of theme park for
the Moomba festival...Frank and I
didn't ride on the rides and win 6ft
stuffed toys :-( We weren't
that motivated to hehe.

If you ever come
down here to Australia, you HAVE to
go to Melbourne. Shopping is
great there. I bought a
Country Road jacket which I love...
not the one I'm wearing on the photo
though. Nothing wrong with
trying on right?
So, there you have
it. A seminar worth going to.
How Much Did It Cost Me?
Let's add up how
much I spent on that trip:
Seminar ticket:
$497 early bird price + bring a
friend for free so ended up
being about $250.
Accommodation:
$90 a night /2 people = $45 a
night x 5 nights = $225
Flight: $160
return ticket.
Food:
Mainly served at the seminar
Shopping:
Books - "Good to Great" by Jim
Collins $65.00, Country Road
jacket $299.00
Meeting the
speakers and gaining more
knowledge: $PRICELESS!
All up, excluding
the shopping :), $635.00!
Oh yea, everything
was tax deductible and are business
expenses so the whole trip was
pretty much FREE :-). And yes,
I did use the sales and commissions
I made from my business. You gotta love Internet Marketing!
Will
You Attend The Next Seminar?
Look, I posted these
videos and photos to show you how
fun and how much more you'll gain by
going to an Internet marketing
seminar. You get to meet and
network with like-minded people who
have the same interest and desire as
you and what more, you get to meet
the speakers in person. That
itself is priceless. And the
experience itself will be a memory
of a lifetime. You saw how
much fun Frank and I had when we
were at the WIS.
So when the next
event happens, I urge you to go.
Even if it's out of your reach at
the moment, there's always a way if
you have a burning desire to go.
